Victor Bicycles

Victor Steam Car – Albert H. Overman and his The Overman Wheel Co. were orginally manufacturers of the popular Victor bicyles in Chicopee Falls, MA. In 1896 Overman began developement of a gasoline powered American automobile. However, it was never placed on the market.

By 1899 Albert H. Overman decided to make a steam car he would call the Victor Steam Carriage. He named his Victor Steam Carriage after his large Victor bicycle business. In 1901 Overman reorganized his business into The Overman Automobile Co. of Chicopee Falls, MA & New York, NY. Overman made the Victor Steam Carriage from 1901 to 1904. After 1904 Overman merged The Overman Automobile Company with Locomobile.

Victor Runabout sold for $1,000 to $1,200, Dos-ados from $1,200 to $1,400 and a Surrey from $1,600 to $1,700. The Victor Steam Cars were equipped with a two cylinder vertical engine rated at 4 horsepower.
