The Ultimate Driving Machine hasn’t been nearly as ultimate as it was in the past. That said, the new 2025 BMW M340i could change that for BMW.
The 2025 model year brings some impressive upgrades to the 3 Series lineup. This car is easily the icon of the brand and has the chops to continue to be an exceptional car, with new chassis tuning to improve the balance between capable and comfortable. BMW wasn’t short on the details, ensuring the changes were being made and that tiny tweaks made a difference.
Better looks for more flair
As much as we admire items like stiffer mounting connecting the rear dampers to the body and lighter steering in Comfort mode, the exterior changes are truly impressive. The exterior of the BMW 3 Series receives new front and rear bumpers to offer more flair. There are also two new colors available: Arctic Race Blue Metallic and Vegas Red Metallic. The M340i model comes standard with an M Sport package that has 19-inch M alloy wheels that are finished in Jet Back or with a bi-color look and a double-spoke pattern. These changes give the 3 Series an impressive new look that you’re sure to admire.
What powers the M340i?
The 2025 BMW M340i has more power coming out of the 3.0-liter turbocharged 6-cylinder engine. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which sends 368 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. The powertrain is aided by a 48-volt mild hybrid system to help it deliver impressive acceleration and power on any road.
The steering system and suspension upgrades give the M340i the dynamic performance desired when you’re ready to tear up the corners and enjoy everything the road has to offer.
Going inside for luxury comfort
Although the BMW 3 Series is well-known for its driving prowess and manners, the modern materials and design bring you the luxurious elements you want. Nothing inside this car feels cheap, and the controls are right where you need them. The standard sport seats are well-bolstered and supportive, giving you the feeling you want when you push this car hard and fast. There’s also a detailed head-up display that gives you the desired information on a screen in front of you, making it easy to keep your eyes on the road.
You’ll also enjoy the customizable ambient interior lighting, heated front and rear seats, remote engine starting, and wireless charging. This car has a large trunk with an available power-operated lid. There’s 17 cubic feet o cargo space making it easy to bring along as much stuff as you need for a full week away from home.
Its quick and efficient
The 2025 BMW M340i xDrive can sprint to 60 mph in only 3.7 seconds. This is pretty quick and beats the base 330i xDrive, which completes the sprint in 5.2 seconds. These figures should help propel the 3 Series back into the Ultimate designation, where it belongs.
The fuel mileage is pretty impressive, especially for a sports car. The M340i can hit 33 mpg combined, which is excellent for a powerful AWD sports car. The EPA rating is a little lower than this, which comes in at 23 city/31 hwy mpg. Don’t be shocked if you get better fuel mileage than expected when using this performance car for your daily commute.
Check out the screens
BMW gives you some excellent screens inside the 3 Series cars. There are two screens combined into one panel, giving this car a 12.3-inch gauge display and a 14.9-inch infotainment display. These screens sit on top of the dashboard and have a high-resolution display that can be read even in direct sunlight. The infotainment screen runs BMW’s iDrive 8.5 interface, which is snappy and easy to navigate through the menus. You’ll be glad to have the various features found in the system and get connected using the normal methods or the 5G Wi-Fi hotspot.
The wireless technology includes connectivity features and a charging pad. There’s also a Harman Kardon audio system to give you the clear and crisp sounds you want to hear.
Will you drive this BMW?
The new 2025 BMW M340i has more power and a sportier style than in the past. This new version of the performance-oriented 3 Series should earn it the title of Ultimate Driving Machine once again. Of course, some purists might think that title only belongs to the M3, but this version of the 3 Series is pretty cool. Will you take this BMW out for a test drive?
