This impressive truck has two different four-door cab options, which is significant because most competitors did away with smaller four-door cabs. The Tundra has an impressive style with a chiseled body that makes it look rugged and ready for anything. This truck can’t tow the most, but it has the reliability to make it easy to drive and use for every job. This could be the right truck to handle the work you need to get done.

Content to be good but not great

The Tundra truly embodies what Toyota is all about. Consider the Camry, which is one of the most popular midsize sedans on the market. It’s also good, but not great. The Tundra doesn’t have the highest towing or payload ratings, but it has good enough numbers to handle most jobs. This truck rides on a coil-spring rear suspension that gives it a smooth and enjoyable ride on the road. You can also choose from several off-road trims and packages that give the Tundra the capability you want when you leave the road behind and head into the wilderness.

What’s new for 2025?

The 2025 Toyota Tundra has a few new items and has lost some items as well. The TRD Sport package, RWD version of the TRD Off-Road, and Solar Octane paint color have all been discontinued and won’t return for the latest model year. There’s a new TRD Rally appearance package, and the SR5 now has standard 8-way power-adjustable front seats. The power tailgate is also available in the SR5 model and is standard on every trim above that model. The Platinum and Capstone models now have massaging front seats, and the 1794 Edition receives a unique embossed tailgate.

What powers this Toyota truck?

The new Tundra has three powertrains, but all of them begin with a 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine. The SR model is tuned to 348 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque, but in other trims, this engine is tuned up to 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. The third powertrain is the i-Force Max Hybrid setup, which delivers 473 horsepower and adds a hybrid motor to the mix. Every powertrain has a smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission to give you the ride quality desired.

The 2025 Toyota Tundra can tow up to 12,000 pounds, which is probably good enough for almost everything you need to get done. It still falls behind the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, and Ram 1500. The Tundra has a max payload figure of 1,940 pounds. This Toyota truck returns 20 city/24 hwy mpg when you have the nonhybrid 2WD models.

What does the cabin have to offer?

The latest version of the Tundra has improved the cabin materials compared to previous generations and models. The base interior is mostly utilitarian, which is expected. You’ll find some hard plastics in the lower rims. As you move up through the trims, you’ll find upgraded materials that lead to the top-trim Capstone, which includes semi-aniline leather upholstery. This top model also has American walnut interior trim, acoustically laminated side windows, and a head-up display.

The driver information display features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and the center of the dashboard houses a large 14-inch infotainment screen.

The Double Cab models can be had with either a 6.5 or 8.1-foot bed, but the CrewMax models are offered with either a 5.5 or 6.5-foot bed. The shorter cab reduces rear-seat legroom from 41.6 inches to 33.3 inches.

Tech where you need it

The SR and SR5 models have an 8.0-inch infotainment screen, but higher trims of the 2025 Toyota Tundra have the 14-inch screen. The Double Cab models have a six-speaker audio system while CrewMax models have a nine-speaker system. There’s also a 12-speaker JBL premium audio system which is standard on the Limited trims and up. If you choose the Platinum trim or higher, you’ll enjoy the benefits of wireless charging.

Which model should you buy?

Skip the base SR model and go for the SR5 trim. This gives you the benefits of features that are only offered as options for the base model and increases the power of this half-ton truck. Toss in the TRD Off-Road package, and you’ll have a lifted suspension with Bilstein dampers and a long list of off-road features to make this truck fun to drive.
