Ford Thunderbird Tail Fins – The Ford Thunderbird was an American made automobile first produced in 1955. The ’55 Thunderbird answered Chevrolet’s Corvette with a two seater of their own. Thunderbirds were produced with tail fins in three of the eleven generations. First generation (1955–1957), Second generation (1958–1960) and Third generation (1961–1963).
First Generation (1955–1957)
The 1955, 1956 and 1957 Ford Thunderbirds shared some design features with other Ford products, such as circular headlamps, tail lights and modest tail fins. These Thunderbirds were sleeker, shapelier and had a awesome hood scoop. The first gemeration thunderbirds were available with a detachable fibre glass hard top and a folding fabric top.

Second generation (1958–1960)
The 1958, 1959 and 1960 second generation Ford Thunderbirds were redesigned as a four passenger automobile. The new Thunderbird’s were considerably larger than the previous first generation cars. In 1959 and 1960, the thunderbird received a new restyled grille.

Third Generation (1961–1963)
The 1961, 1962 and 1963 Ford Thunderbird’s were redesigned with sleeker styling that gave the car a distinctively bullet like appearance and small sharp angular tail fins. These cars were equipped with a 390 cubic inch V-8 that produced 300 horsepower and a three speed automatic transmission.
