If you’re wondering why you haven’t seen any new EV models at your local Dodge dealer, the reason is that they’re just now arriving. Despite production on new Jeep and Dodge EV models starting last summer, the vehicles have only just started to arrive at dealers across the country.
Software Issues Cause Delivery Delays
Stellantis is working on electrifying its lineup in 2025, and the first Jeep and Dodge EVs arriving at dealerships to start the year is a step in the right direction. According to the automaker, the deliveries were largely delayed by software problems. Stellantis has previously ignored the United States as an EV market, but after a sales drop in 2024, the company is planning to go all out in 2025.
Jeep Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger Daytona Lead the Way
Production of the Jeep Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger Daytona EVs started last summer, but the software issues mentioned above slowed things down. In the last few months, the automaker has been tweaking the software to establish the best driving experience. The 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S is expected to start at $70,795 MSRP and deliver over 300 miles of range. The Launch Edition model comes with 600 horsepower.
On the Dodge side, the Charger Daytona will come in two trims, the R/T and Scat Pack. The former starts at $59,595 MSRP and puts out 496 horsepower. The latter trim starts at $73,190 MSRP and offers 670 horsepower. There should be more to choose from at your Dodge dealer when the models start arriving.
More EV Models Coming For Stellantis
The Jeep and Dodge EVs mentioned above are just the beginning of the EV journey for Stellantis. The automaker also plans to bring more models, including the Jeep Recon, to the U.S. market soon. The Recon is a Wrangler-esque EV and recent developments appear to show that it’s near production. Meanwhile, the 2025 Ram 1500 REV has already arrived with a range of 350 miles and 14,000 pounds of towing capacity.
However, Stellantis has canceled that model in favor of the upcoming 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger. That model is expected to boast an impressive driving range of 690 miles with a powertrain that includes a 3.6-liter V6 engine.
Committing To The U.S. Market In 2025
Stellantis has been losing market share in the United States every year since 2018. However, the company plans to make the U.S. market a top priority. The commitment starts with 2025 and Jeep and Ram are expected to feature prominently in the plans. Stellantis admits that it had a bad year in 2024, but it expects to do better this year.
There’s no doubt that Stellantis had some rough years under its former CEO, but it’s not clear whether that’s the entire reason for the company’s poor sales. Jeep and Ram sales have declined in recent years, but the new EV models arriving at dealerships should help sales. However, it remains to be seen whether the new EVs will be competitive and reliable.
