Miami Heat Meets Electric Power: Rivian’s R1S Gets a Vice-Inspired Makeover

A brightly colored Rivian R1S special edition is ready to cruise the roads in Miami, wearing teal and pink colors to remind you of a show from the 1980s.

Rivian just dropped something that’ll make you want to cruise Ocean Drive with the windows down. Their new R1S Tri-Motor SUV rocks a stunning Miami Vice-inspired color scheme that screams 1980s nostalgia while packing serious electric muscle. This special edition brings retro teal paint with pink accent details, 850 horsepower, and 1103 lb-ft of torque to create the perfect blend of Miami style and modern performance.

Nostalgia and bright colors

A Miami Vice-inspired electric SUV was just announced by Rivian, making this new electric SUV ready to patrol the beach roads in southern Florida. It’s a luxury electric SUV that reminds you of Miami Vice, which was a popular show in the 1980s, in which the stars wore brightly colored suits and drove around in Miami solving crimes. The retro colors give this teal SUV the look and feel that makes you feel like you’re near the beach, ready to solve crimes or enjoy a night out at a club in South Beach.

Rivian continues to establish itself

No matter how you look at it, the Rivian brand is still mostly a startup and continues to be a brand that offers impressive electric vehicles that can handle some driving fun in the trails. Still, the new Rivian R1S special edition might be the first step forward to help the brand shake the “startup” label and establish itself as a serious brand. Offering a special edition model means a brand has sold enough vehicles to create something a little more interesting than its basic offerings. The new electric vehicle design of this special model gives it a teal and pink look on the base of white, which makes it the perfect electric SUV to take to the beach.

As its foundation, this new Rivian Miami Vice edition vehicle uses the R1S Tri-Motor as its base setup, giving the vehicle three electric motors, AWD, and plenty of power. This power reaches 850 horsepower and 1,103 lb-ft of torque and has been proven in Car and Driver testing to reach 60 MPH in only 2.8 seconds. It only takes this SUV 7.2 seconds to hit 100 MPH, making it one of the quickest vehicles on the market. Can you imagine this snazzy new paint scheme rocketing past you as the new R1S tears down the road?

Going deeper with the colors

This new Rivian R1S special edition could lead to new automotive branding for this electric vehicle brand. The paint scheme of this special model is inspired by the 1980s television show, with a white body, a blue bumper, and pink tow hooks. Blue stripes stream down the doors, and the wheels have an old-school disc look to them with a white area bordered by pink venting and a blue outer rim. Even the Rivian badge on the front doors has pink edges, finishing the exterior look.

Going inside, the color scheme continues with white upholstery, blue floor mats and pink inserts in the headrest. This special model of the R1S will be featured at a shopping center in downtown Miami, which makes for the perfect location to show off this special new model and let people see what Rivan can do and offer their beach-going fun.

The second special edition R1S

Earlier this year, Rivian brought another special model to the market. This was the R1S Pebble Beach Edition, which featured a special paint job and some custom features in the cabin. This model, along with the Miami Vice model, could be part of a new division at Rivian, but the EV startup might not be ready for a bespoke division just yet. Having special paint schemes that customers can select or allowing some shoppers to create their own paint schemes could be the next step forward for Rivian.

This new Rivian R1S special edition shows off a fantastic new Miami Vice-inspired paint scheme which looks like it’s ready for a fun night at South Beach, along the strip in Vegas, or parked at the beach on any of the many coasts of the country. This new special model could mean it’s time for Rivian to be considered a more serious brand.

Would you consider driving this new R1S with its blue, pink, and white paint scheme? This new electric SUV is fast, fun, and colorful, making it an SUV that will turn some heads wherever it goes.
